Emblem design is throughout us. To most people, logos serve as an instantaneous reminder of an organization or a product; to the consumer they’re the point of recognition on which their branding hangs; and to us designers they represent the problem of incorporating our shoppers’ ideologies into one single graphic. As for digital printing that is reserved for small runs and though the quality is excellent it has draw backs, including the restrictions of CMYK and materials it might print on. It hasn’t but replaced web offset or litho and it certainly won’t substitute digital media.
I agree with Hugo on this one, I have been working with a Dutch firm to try and establish a greater form of design crowdsourcing platform right here within the UK. I personally imagine that crowdsourcing websites are a wonderful method for brand new or unestablished designers to get a foot maintain in the trade.
We get many potential shoppers who say make our emblem appear to be ‘Company A’. We inform them that their logo must be unique, and so they just don’t get it. They simply wish to keep the costs down however we try to clarify that they really aren’t doing themselves any favors in the long run with a spinoff emblem.
She filled out their questionnaire and got several submissions from the logo web site, then she hired me to evaluate them along with her and provide advice and feedback from an expert designer, and took those feedback again to the brand design firm with instructions for the next round of revisions.
After utilizing my old logo for over 4 years, I spotted I never once had someone randomly give a constructive touch upon it. I’ve now had my new brand for a couple of month and have had individuals who I have not talked to in a 12 months call just to tell me how nice it looks.
